Twilight Princess: What's The Only Thing Nobody Is Talking About

Twilight Princess: What's The Only Thing Nobody Is Talking About

Twilight Princess Game Review

The most dark and serious of the Nintendo 3D Zelda games, Twilight Princess pushes the limits of graphic presentation to its final limits on the Wii's hardware. It's darker and more unsettling than The Wind Waker. There aren't  starlight princess demo rupiah -eyed pigs nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is drawn to a different dimension referred to as Twilight Realm where he takes on the form of both a Hylian Wolf and the form of a Hylian while being guided Midna.

Gameplay

The thirteenth and final installment of The Legend of Zelda is Twilight Princess. It was released for Nintendo GameCube and Wii systems in 2006. The game was highly praised by critics, and received perfect scores from several publications including 1UP, CVG, EGM, and GamesRadar. Many consider it to be the best game in the franchise and the most popular Zelda game on the PAL market.

Twilight Princess has a naturalistic, stylized graphics style similar to Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, but with a more sophisticated graphical engine. It's the first game in the series that features an entirely directional control system instead of a fixed viewpoint like previous games. This modification was made to accommodate the Wii console's point-based interface. The GameCube version of the game features a section in the back that has mirror-image maps to those who prefer a fixed view.

Link transforms into a wolf when he enters the Twilight Realm. He also encounters Midna, a mysterious creature. She reveals to Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group shadow beasts that are led by the evil sorcerer Zant. She also explains that she's the real ruler of Twili however, she was supplanted and cursed to her present form by Zant.

When Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle, a short cut scene shows the soldiers there being killed by the shadow beasts. Link and Midna then escape from the castle by a tunnel to enter the Twilight Realm.

In the Twilight Realm, Link can make use of his wolf form to move more freely around the world. Link can also use his senses to navigate the world. For example, he can detect the spirits of deceased soldiers and other animals that are in the distance. He can also whistle and pull grass from certain patches to summon an animal, such as a Hawk, Epona or other. Link can also whistle near the patches to summon an identical animal.

Like previous Zelda games music plays a significant part in Twilight Princess. Link can play instruments that are musical like the flute or the harp, in order to attract and call upon various animals. He can also command the wolf's form through his voice. He can also use his compass as a way to help him navigate through the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda series is full of colorful characters that leave an unforgettable impression on players. These unique and imaginative characters such as hands emerging from toilets to pirates soaring across vast oceans, are the essence of this game. Twilight Princess continues the tradition of previous games by introducing a range of memorable characters.

Throughout the story, Link meets new NPCs that are not only intriguing, but also plausible. It's a major step in the right direction to have many of these NPCs actually play a role in the story rather than simply being there as victims. NPCs such as Rusl who explains that the forest is dangerous now and kidnaps kids or the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf while the kids are kidnapped each has their own unique personality.

Other notable characters include Iza who runs the Boat Rental Cabin as well as Iza's Rapid Ride in the Lanayru Province, Louise, Telma's cat who helps Wolf Link locate a secret passageway through her bar as well as sewer system to the castle, and Faron who's spirit is the one who guides Link and Midna to the Forest Temple in the Eldin Province. The two team members defeat the Fused Shadow possessed by Diababa and gains the first Tear of Light.

Midna, the princess of the Twilight Realm, is also one of the most intriguing characters in the game. She is a part of the Triforce of Wisdom and can switch between her human and her wolf-like impish form. She is friends with Link and tells him about her experience in the twilight realm and how she defeated Zant, the king of Twilight.

Zant is the evil sorcerer who controls the Twilight Realm. He possesses the second part of the Triforce of Wisdom. He was exiled to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses for stealing their land and enslaving the people. Midna dispels Zant's power, permitting him to transform into his human form whenever needed.

The game also features an improved horse called Epona, which is mounted in Hylian and wolf versions. Link can whistle at specific grass patches to call the animal. (similar to Majora’s Mask). The player can identify the horse, making Twilight Princess the first time in the series where the player can customize their own horse.

Theme

Music is one of the most important elements of any Zelda game and it can make a world feel huge, epic, and engrossing. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for its inconsistent and unreliable soundtrack that doesn't capture the emotional impact of certain moments. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask and other games have captivating compositions that explode at the right moment to give you a sense of grandness and eerie.

Twilight Princess was composed by Asuka Ohta and Toru Minegishi. Koji Kondo, the series' composer for the first since Wind Waker, was in charge of overseeing the composers. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the traditional approach to the franchise, with an approach that is minimalist in terms of melody and arrangement. Most field and dungeon music begins with a single instrumental, creating a mysterious and eerie atmosphere for the player. Midna's lament, for instance utilizes a simple keyboard to create a feeling of sadness in the player.

Dungeon themes are the most well-known examples of this trend towards minimalism, with a number of themes featuring a dull and ominous ambience. This is evident in Twilight Realm, which has an unsettling soundscape that is reminiscent of scenes on an original David Lynch movie. The unsettling and ominous nature of the track is amplified by the lack of recognisable melody and traditional arrangement, with dreary drones and bizarre patterns intertwining to create a dark, gloomy texture.

Link's hometown song, "Faron Woods," is a more upbeat and joyful track. This song uses a variety strings and soft sounds to create a peaceful and safe feeling for the player. The song contains subtle references to the most famous scene from the franchise, because it has a riff that is similar to the famous melody that plays at the Ocarina of Time's start.

Twilight Princess also has dynamic songs that change depending on the player's location, what they do, and what is happening. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of its theme for each area of the town. Central Square, for instance, has a more boisterous version. These variations are a nice touch that helps to add an element of depth and immersion into the world of Hyrule.

Story

Link's goal in Twilight Princess is to save Hyrule from the corrupted world known as the Twilight Realm. To accomplish this, he takes the form of a Hylian and an Wolf as well as being assisted by a woman called Midna.

Midna is the first ruler of the Twili, but she was usurped by Zant and cursed into her imp form. Link and Midna are informed by the Sages of the Old Testament that only by defeating Ganondorf will be capable of releasing them from their curse. The Sages reveal that the Mirror of Twilight is the source of the darkness in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring, where they encounter dangerous monsters who kidnap children. Wolf Link's keen ear helps them track the children's scent to a bridge nearby and then cross into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple and battle Diababa and win the first Fused Shadow. Faron then informs them of their next destination, which is the Eldin Province in the west (Wii), or east (GCN).

Midna, at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link onto a fiery stone and unleashes her power on the ice beneath Lake Hylia. Rutela's spirit, who was the recently gone Zora queen, appears to Link and tells him that he needs to visit the Lakebed Temple if he wants to gain access to the treasures of Zora.

Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the horse Epona can be again ridden in Twilight Princess. Link can select the name of the horse, in contrast to the predetermined names used in previous games.

Midna and Link can recover the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. At the Palace of Twilight, the Sages declare that Midna is actually the true ruler of the Twili and Hyrule kingdoms, but she has been passed over for the monarchy and was turned into a god for power. The Sages tell them that they can only be defeated by Ganondorf by bringing him to light and break the pact between the Twilight kingdom and Hyrule kingdom.
